Hello! My name is Jesica and I am the manager of ZuZu’s Petals!
To start off, I’d like to talk a little about my background and where I came from!
I was born in Jalpan de Serra, Queretaro. It is a small town in the heart of the Sierra Gorda. I was there until I was a little under three and then moved to the United States for a brighter future! We often visited when I was growing up to see family and enjoy the culture and food. I still have my favorite taco stand!
As you can see in some of the photos the land is very mountainous, so I know this is where my love of mountains came from.
I met my husband when we both decided to attend Texas State University. I graduated in 2015, being the first person in my whole family to graduate from a University making the orgullo VERY big. My parents worked so hard to give my brother and I a great future so that was one of my highlights in my life.
I studied Art and Mass Communications at Texas State as I have always loved colors, painting and all other art forms.
The main activity my husband and I like doing is going to concerts ! I’ve seen almost everyone I have ever wanted to see and I could see Opeth and Gojira a million times over and over and never get tired of them. I’d love to work with any of my favorite bands and bring some metal floral art to them! @opeth @gojira *wink wink*
My husband and I move to Austin in 2016, started a family and got “officially” married in 2019. We knew we wanted a small intimate wedding and after visiting Colorado we knew we had to go back to our rock in the mountains to seal the deal.
We told our families of our news and a few of them traveled with us and stayed at the cutest cabin ever! I had my great friend Danielle Johnson fly all the way from Florida to capture these amazing images that will stay with me forever.
The weather was amazing, the air was so clean and the trees were just turning the soft yellow that we were wanting. It was beautiful in every way and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting to say yes to my forever best friend
I travelled with my bouquet I made all the way to Colorado because I wanted to make sure I had something that I liked and that fit the vibe of the wedding. I was able to create a stunning bouquet from the training I had received at the shop and the dry floral I had obtained from past weddings. I love that I can create art with living or dried and preserved items. Art that lives in images that people keep forever!
So if I have made floral for you, I genuinely appreciate the trust you put in me to execute your vision. I love creating big installations and small tiny details like corsages and boutonnieres. I use to be really into boho pampas grass weddings but now I really love bright and happy weddings! I’ve also seen a lot of crystals being used in bouquets and I am absolutely here for it!
I love the hard-working team that we have created and I can’t wait to see what we can tackle and all the fun things that we make! I am so proud of the teamwork and efforts made by our designers and have never felt more motivated than in this moment!
My next goal for the studio is to make a destination wedding happen 😉
